Our central location makes visiting easy, no matter where you’re coming from. San Antonio is just a quick flight away from most major U.S. cities, and the mission trail is only 20 minutes from the airport. By car, we’re about 1.5 hours southwest of Austin, 3 hours east of Houston and 5 hours south of Dallas.

Take I-35 S. Follow I-35 S toward San Antonio.

Take I-37 N. Follow I-37 N toward San Antonio.

Take I-35 E. Follow I-35 E to I-35 S toward San Antonio.

Take I-10 E. Follow I-10 E toward San Antonio.

To The Alamo

The Alamo is about 20 minutes south of the airport and just steps away from the River Walk. You’ll find The Alamo nestled in the heart of downtown on Alamo Plaza, between E. Houston and Crockett streets. From here, you can hop on the Mission Reach hike & bike trail to explore more missions.

Take I-35 S. Follow I-35 S to exit 158B to merge onto I-37 S/US-281 S toward Corpus Christi. Take exit 141A for Commerce St. toward Downtown. Take right and continue on E Commerce St. for half a mile and turn right onto Alamo Plaza.

Take I-37 N to San Antonio. Follow I-37 N to exit 141 toward Commerce St/Downtown/The Alamo. Merge onto I-37 Access Rd. Turn left onto E Commerce St for half a mile and turn right onto Alamo Plaza.

Take I-35 E to I-35 S to San Antonio. Follow I-35 S to exit 158B to merge onto I-37 S/US-281 S toward Corpus Christi. Take exit 141A for Commerce St. toward Downtown. Take right and continue on E Commerce St for half a mile and turn right onto Alamo Plaza.

Take I-10 E to San Antonio. Follow I-10 E use the left lane to take exit 570 for I-35 N toward Austin. Use the right lane to take exit 158 for I-37 S toward US-281 N/Johnson City/US-281 S/Corpus Christi. Keep right at the fork, follow signs for I-37 S/US-281 S/Corpus Christi and merge onto I-37 S/US-281 S. Take exit 141A for Commerce St. toward Downtown. Take right and continue on E Commerce St. for half a mile and turn right onto Alamo Plaza.

Take I-45 N. Take exit 48B for I-10 W toward San Antonio. Follow I-10 W to San Antonio. Take exit 574 to merge onto I-37 N/US-281 N toward Johnson City. Take exit 141 toward Commerce St/Downtown/The Alamo. Merge onto I-37 Access Rd. Turn left onto E Commerce St for half a mile and turn right onto Alamo Plaza.

Take I-35 N to San Antonio. Follow I-35 N and use the right two lanes to exit 153 and merge onto I-10 E/US-90 E/US-87 S. Use the right two lanes to take exit 574 to merge onto I-37 N/US-281 N toward Johnson City. Take exit 141 toward Commerce St/Downtown/The Alamo. Merge onto I-37 Access Rd. Turn left onto E Commerce St for half a mile and turn right onto Alamo Plaza.

Take US-281 S to Downtown San Antonio. Continue onto I-37 S/US-281 S. Take exit 141A for Commerce St. toward Downtown. Take right and continue on E Commerce St for half a mile and turn right onto Alamo Plaza.

To Mission Concepción

This mission is about three miles south of the Alamo, just past the historic King William District. It is accessible via the World Heritage Trail, VIA VIVA Missions from downtown. If you’re SWell Cycling along the Mission Reach Trail, there is a parking hub on grounds.

Take I-35 S to San Antonio. Follow I-35 S to exit 158B onto I-37 S/US-281 S toward Corpus Christi. Take exit 139 for US-90 W/US-87 N toward El Paso. Merge onto I-10 W/US-90 W/US-87 N. Take exit 573 for Probandt St. Merge right onto Probandt St and turn right at Steves Ave. Continue on Steves Ave and turn right on Mission Rd to Mission Concepción.

Follow I-37 N to San Antonio. Take exit 139 for US-90 W/US-87 N toward El Paso. Merge onto I-10 W/US-87 N/US-90 W. Take exit 573 for Probandt St. Merge right onto Probandt St and turn right at Steves Ave. Continue on Steves Ave and turn right on Mission Rd to Mission Concepción.

Follow I-35 E and I-35 S to San Antonio. Follow I-35 S to exit 158B onto I-37 S/US-281 S toward Corpus Christi. Take exit 139 for US-90 W/US-87 N toward El Paso. Merge onto I-10 W/US-90 W /US-87 N. Take I-45 N to I-10 W. Follow I-10 W to San Antonio. Take exit 573 for Probandt St. Merge right onto Probandt St and turn right at Steves Ave. Continue on Steves Ave and turn right on Mission Rd to Mission Concepción.

Take I-35 N/US-83 N. Follow I-35 N to San Antonio. Follow I-35 N and use the right two lanes to exit 153 and merge onto I-10 E/US-90 E/US-87 S. Take exit 573 for Probandt St and turn right onto Probandt St. Turn left onto W Mitchell St and right on Mission Rd to Mission Concepción.

Take US-281 S from E Terminal Dr and Dee Howard Way. Continue on US-281 S/I-37 S. Take exit 139 for US-90 W/US-87 N toward El Paso. Merge onto I-10 W/US-90W/ US-87 N. Take exit 573 for Probandt St and Roosevelt Ave. Merge right onto Probandt St and turn right at Steves Ave. Continue on Steves Ave and turn right on Mission Rd to Mission Concepción.

To Mission San José

Mission San José is 2.6 miles south of Mission Concepción, approximately six minutes along the World Heritage Trail – or about an 18-minute drive down Roosevelt Avenue if coming directly from downtown. The hike & bike trail crosses right in front of the mission’s entrance. The San Antonio River Mission Reach and historic Acequia Trail are about a mile walk due north.

Take I-35 S to San Antonio. Take exit 158B to merge onto I-37 S/US-281 S toward Corpus Christi. Exit on 138B for New Braunfels Ave and Southcross Blvd. Make a right on New Braunfels Ave S, followed by another right on Southcross Ave E. Continue on Southcross Ave E and turn left on Roosevelt Ave. Continue on Roosevelt Ave and take a left on Napier Ave, followed by a left on San José Dr, and arrive at Mission San José.

Take I-37 N to San Antonio. Follow I-37 N and take exit 132 for TX-122 Spur. Turn left onto TX-122 Spur N and continue north. Make a left turn at SE Military Dr followed by a right turn at Roosevelt Ave. Turn right on Napier Ave, then left on San José Dr to Mission San José.

Follow I-35 E and I-35 S to San Antonio. Take exit 158B to merge onto I-37 S/US-281 S toward Corpus Christi. Exit on 138B for New Braunfels Ave and Southcross Blvd. Make a right on New Braunfels Ave S, followed by another right on Southcross Ave E. Continue on Southcross Ave E and turn left on Roosevelt Ave. Continue on Roosevelt Ave and take a left on Napier Ave, followed by a left on San José Dr, and arrive at Mission San José.

Take I-10 E to San Antonio. Follow I-10 E and keep left at fork to continue on I-35 S, follow signs for Laredo. Take exit 152A toward Division Ave. Merge onto I-35 S Access Rd and turn left onto Division Ave. Continue on Division Ave and turn right onto S Flores St. Continue on S Flores St and turn left onto E White followed by a right onto Mission Rd. Follow Mission Rd to Mission San José.

Take I-45 N to I-10 W to San Antonio. Take exit 574 to merge onto I-37 S/US-281 S toward Corpus Christi. Exit on 138B for New Braunfels Ave and Southcross Blvd. Make a right on New Braunfels Ave S, followed by another right on Southcross Ave E. Continue on Southcross Ave E and turn left on Roosevelt Ave. Continue on Roosevelt Ave and take a left on Napier Ave, followed by a left on San José Dr, and arrive at Mission San José.

Take I-35 N/US-83 N. Follow I-35 N to San Antonio. Exit 150B for Military Dr and turn right onto Military Dr. Take Military Dr and turn left on Roosevelt Ave. Take a right on Napier Ave, followed by a left on San José Dr, and arrive at Mission San José.

Take US-281 S from E Terminal Dr and Dee Howard Way. Take US-281 S to Downtown San Antonio. Continue onto I-37 S/US-281 S. Exit on 138B for New Braunfels Ave and Southcross Blvd. Make a right on New Braunfels Ave S, followed by another right on Southcross Ave E. Continue on Southcross Ave E and turn left on Roosevelt Ave. Continue on Roosevelt Ave and take a left on Napier Ave, followed by a left on San José Dr, and arrive at Mission San José.

To The Acequias

These waterways run along the San Antonio River, with irrigation structures at each mission. The best preserved of the acequias are the still-operating Espada Dam and Aqueduct, which can be found at Mission Espada.

Take I-35 S. Follow I-35 S and I-410 S to S East Loop 410/I-410 Access Rd in San Antonio. Take exit 42 from I-410 S. Take S Presa St and Mission Pkwy to your destination.

Take I-37 N. Follow I-37 N to TX-122 Spur N/S Presa St in San Antonio. Take exit 132 from I-37 N. Follow TX-122 Spur N/S Presa St and Mission Pkwy to your destination.

Follow I-35 E and I-35 S to S East Loop 410/I-410 Access Rd in San Antonio. Take exit 42 from I-410 S. Take S Presa St and Mission Pkwy to your destination.

Follow I-35 E and I-35 S to S East Loop 410/I-410 Access Rd in San Antonio. Take exit 42 from I-410 S. Take S Presa St and Mission Pkwy to your destination.

Take I-45 N. Follow I-10 W to S East Loop 410/I-410 Access Rd in San Antonio. Take exit 42 from I-410 S. Take S Presa St and Mission Pkwy to your destination.

Take I-35 N/US-38 N from E Saunders St. Follow I-35 N to S East Loop 410/I-410 Access Rd in San Antonio. Take exit 44 from I-410 E. Take Roosevelt Ave, E Harding Blvd and Mission Pkwy to your destination.

Take US-281 S from E Terminal Dr and Dee Howard Way. Follow US-281 S and I-37 S to Pecan Valley Dr. Take exit 136 from I-37 S. Continue on Pecan Valley Dr to your destination.

To Mission San Juan

A few miles downriver from Mission San José, you’ll find Mission San Juan Capistrano. By car, just follow the World Heritage Trail from Napier to Padre Road and connect with Mission Road due south for three miles. It is accessible via public transportation on the VIA VIVA Missions and even by canoe. Or stay on the Mission Reach hike & bike trail and park your SWell Cycle on mission grounds. Nearby, you’ll find the historic Espada Aqueduct, as well as the Acequia Trail.

Follow I-35 S to San Antonio. Continue on I-35 S and take I-410 S. Take exit 42 toward TX-122 Spur/S Presa St/Southton Rd and make a right on S Presa St. Continue on S Presa St and turn left on Graf Rd to Mission San Juan.

Take I-37 N to San Antonio. Follow I-37 N and take exit 132 for TX-122 Spur. Turn left onto TX-122 Spur N and continue north. Make a left turn on Graf Rd to Mission San Juan.

Follow I-35 E and I-35 S to San Antonio. Continue on I-35 S and take I-410 S. Take exit 42 toward TX-122 Spur/S Presa St/Southton Rd and make a right on S Presa St. Continue on S Presa St and turn left on Graf Rd to Mission San Juan.

Take I-10 E to San Antonio. Follow I-10 E and use right two lanes to take exit 153 to merge onto I-10 E/US-87 S/US-90 E toward Houston. Use right two lanes to take exit 574 to merge onto I-37 S/US-281 S toward Corpus Christi. Take exit 137 for Hot Wells Blvd and turn right onto Hot Wells Blvd, followed by a left turn on S Presa St. Continue on S Presa St and turn right onto Graf Rd and continue to Mission San Juan.

Take I-45 N to I-10 W. Follow I-10 W to San Antonio. Take exit 581 for I-410 S and continue to exit 42 toward TX-122 Spur/S Presa St/Southton Rd and make a right on S Presa St. Continue on S Presa St and turn left on Graf Rd to Mission San Juan.

Take I-35 N to San Antonio. Follow I-35 N and take exit 145A to merge onto I-410 E/TX-16 S. Take exit 42 toward Southton Rd/S Presa St/TX-122 Spur. Turn left onto Southton Rd followed by another left onto S Presa St. Continue on S Presa St and turn left on Graf Rd for Mission San Juan.

Take US-281 S from E Terminal Dr and Dee Howard Way. Follow US-281 S and I-37 S to Hot Wells Blvd. Take exit 137, turn right onto Hot Wells Blvd, and then turn left onto S Presa St. Continue on S Presa St and turn right on Graf Rd to Mission San Juan.

To Mission Espada

The last stop on our World Heritage Trail is 1.5 miles south of Mission San Juan Capistrano and 8.5 miles south of the Alamo. The Mission Reach hike & bike trail will bring you the whole way by bike or by foot, and by car you can follow the World Heritage Trail by taking Villamain Road south to Camino Coahuilteca, right to the main entrance.

Take I-35 S to San Antonio. Follow I-35 S and keep right at the fork to continue on I-35 Frontage Rd/NE I-410. Keep left to continue on I-410 S. Take exit 44 for US-281 S toward TX 536 Spur/Roosevelt Ave/Pleasanton. Exit and keep right and then turn left onto Espada Rd to continue to Mission Espada.

Take I-37 N to San Antonio and exit 133 for I-410/TX-130/US-281 S. Keep left at the fork and take I-410 W/US-281 S/TX-130 S. Continue on I-410 W and take exit 44 for US-281 S toward TX 536 Spur/Roosevelt Ave/Pleasanton. Exit and keep right and then turn left onto Espada Rd to continue to Mission Espada.

Follow I-35 E and I-35 S to San Antonio. Follow I-35 S and keep right at the fork to continue on I-35 Frontage Rd/NE I-410. Keep left to continue on I-410 S. Take exit 44 for US-281 S toward TX 536 Spur/Roosevelt Ave/Pleasanton. Exit and keep right and then turn left onto Espada Rd to continue to Mission Espada.

Take I-10 E to San Antonio. Follow I-10 E and use right two lanes to take exit 153 to merge onto I-10 E/US-87 S/US-90 E toward Houston. Use the right two lanes to take exit 574 to merge onto I-37 S/US-281 S toward Corpus Christi. Take exit 133 to merge onto I-410 W/US-281 S. Take exit 44 for US-281 S toward TX 536 Spur/Roosevelt Ave/Pleasanton. Exit and keep right and then turn left onto Espada Rd to continue to Mission Espada.

Take I-45 N to I-10 W. Follow I-10 W to San Antonio. Take exit 581 for I-410 and keep left at the fork and follow signs for I-410 S. Continue on I-410 S and exit 44 for US-281 S toward TX 536 Spur/Roosevelt Ave/Pleasanton. Exit and keep right and then turn left onto Espada Rd to continue to Mission Espada.

Take I-35 N to San Antonio. Take exit 145A to merge onto I-410 E/TX-16 S. Continue on I-410 E and take exit 43 and continue toward Espada Rd. Keep right toward Espada Rd and turn left at the fork toward Mission Espada.

Take US-281 S from E Terminal Dr and Dee Howard Way. Continue on US-281 S and take I-37 S. Take exit 133 to merge onto I-410 W/US-281 S. Take exit 44 for US-281 S toward TX 536 Spur/Roosevelt Ave/Pleasanton. Exit and keep right and then turn left onto Espada Rd to continue to Mission Espada.
